Northeast Family Goat Farms

Our goat cheeses come from a group of small, local dairy farmers in western Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio. These Amish farmers believe in sustainable agriculture, and they take care of their land and animals. The goats are not treated with BST hormones.

The goat milk is shipped to a local farmer-owned cheese plant, where it is processed into the finest of goat's milk cheese.

Goat's milk is a very good source of calcium as well as protein, phosphorous, and riboflavin (vitamin B2). Perhaps the greatest benefit of goat's milk, however, is that some people who cannot tolerate cow's milk are able to drink goat's milk without any problems.

Goat's milk is much more similar to human breast milk than that of the cow, being much thinner, higher in vitamin A, and higher in proteins. Although cow's milk and goat's milk have similar overall fat contents, the higher proportion of medium-chain fatty acids such as caproic, caprylic, and capric acid in goat's milk contributes to the characteristic tart flavor of goat's milk cheese.

Goat's milk is "kidney friendly" and suitable for those with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) as it is very low in potassium.

We know you'll enjoy these wonderful, healthy goat-milk cheeses!
